My goals for the week...

1) Take a multivitamin every day.
2) Eat breakfast before I leave the house each morning.
3) Eat a piece of fruit or vegetable with every meal (i.e. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner).

OK, I think these are realistic goals for the week. Let's see how it goes.

Time to make a change...

OK, so this new blog is my way of holding myself accountable to loosing weight and choosing a healthier lifestyle. I need this change for many reasons:
1) I am fat. I have weighed more than I did when I checked into the hospital to give birth to Devon for almost 18 months now and I am tired of hating the mirror.
2) I am starting to see how my unhealthy lifestyles choices are becoming part of Devon's lifestyle too and that scares me. When my son can identify a french fry with greater ease than most fruits, it is time to make a change.
3) I hate that all of my skinny sister-in-laws (whom I love and adore) are all skinnier than me and they just gave birth a few months (even weeks) ago. (Just being honest.)
4) I want to be healthy. It seems that cancer, diabetes and other illnesses are everywhere (including my family tree) and I want to do everything possible to make sure that I am around when Devon graduates high school or gets married or even has babies. I don't want to miss any of those moments and making a conscious lifestyle choice is one of the best things I can do to make sure I stay healthy.

You may be wondering why I am posting all of this on a blog. The truth is that I am pretty scared to make this change alone. I love sweets and carbs, am not a huge fan of exercise and prefer naps to any type of physical activity. So this blog is a way for friends and family members to push me along, hold me accountable for my choices, and post their encouragement. The hardest lesson I am learning in life is that I am weak and that I can not do it all (or much of anything really) alone. So please feel free to post comments and help me along.
